One Thimble issue 19 included some wonderful playIme images by Julvelyn Samson of JS Art & Design.
These are perfect for so many uses and work so well in combination with other OT19 patterns.

– Add fun details to your Alfie Sweat Pants
– Embellish the front of your Pinky Promise Bag
– Add extra panels to your Wall Hanging
– Highlight the pockets on your Playtime Dress
Here are some ideas to inspire:
FREEZER PAPER STENCILLING AND SCREEN PRINTING
Cut out the designs using a craft knife or cutting machine and apply the stencils to… anything! Clothing, bags, pennants,… Screen printing in particular allows you to easily apply several colours by creating separate stencils for different elements of the design and printing each layer one at a time to build up the image.
HEAT TRANSFER VINYL (HTV) / ADHESIVE VINYL
Similar to freezer paper, this can be cut using a craft knife or cutting machine. HTV can be applied to all fabrics, such as the Pinky Promise Bag shown here. It can also be layered so you can have several colours in one design. Adhesive vinyl can be applied to almost all surfaces- your sewing machine, a pencil holder, drink bottle,…
FREE MOTION EMBROIDERY AND APPLIQUÉ (FME/FMA)
Using a darning foot on your machine and small sItch length, ‘draw’ with your sewing machine! You could sew directly on a garment, or make it on a scrap of fabric then appliqué. You could also layer up a design using different pieces of fabric then FMA the edges, adding definition and design lines.
HAND-SEWING
Create lovely embroidery or even convert to cross stitch designs!
STAMP CARVING AND STAMPING
Using a stamp carving block, or pencil eraser and simple carving tools, create your own stamp. This can then be used for paper stamping, or onto fabric to create your own custom prints. For more informaIon, see One Thimble issue 15 and issue 16.
FELT BADGES
If you are a One Thimble subscriber, you would have received the exclusive tutorial on how to turn the playtime images into badges. They are fun for both children and adults, and look great attached to your Pinky Promise Bag!
MAGNETS
Create a felt badge or stitch a design in fabric, then add a magnet to the back and create a fridge magnet or a needle minder for your hand sewing projects.
ACCESSORIES
The designs you create for the badges and magnets would also be great as hair accessories, keyrings, bag tags, pin cushions,… so many options!
HOME DECOR
Enlarge the designs and print, stencil or embroider for beautiful wall art, cushions, quilts, sewing machine covers,…
