Business Spotlight – Brave Fabrics

Today I’m super excited to introduce you to Erin from Brave Fabrics.  Erin curates a wonderful range of designer fabrics in her online fabric store that are suitable for clothing for kids and adults, as well as quilts and homewares.

However, the real stand out fabrics in her range for me are her bold fabrics for self-care sewing.  If you struggle to find voiles and cotton/silk blends and other apparel fabrics with great drape then Brave Fabrics should definitely be on your must visit list!

Tell me a little about your business – when did you start?

Brave Fabrics is an online fabric retail business that focuses on designer printed fabrics and sewing patterns. I start this business in Jan 2016. I started the business after the birth of my second child. After a shift in life and career direction and an always present love of sewing, fashion and print fabrics, Brave Fabrics was born!

What can people expect when they visit Brave Fabrics?

Brave Fabrics offers a range of hand picked designer printed fabrics from around the globe.  Vlisco wax print fabrics, Art Gallery Fabrics knits, denim and voile and a small seasonal range of Liberty Tana Lawn to name a few.

Tell me what you look for, when choosing the fabrics you stock?

When choosing my stock I look for vibrant fashion forward prints that will bring out a creative and individual style.

Do you craft/sew?

I definitely do! I quilt and have started to sew all my own and my daughters clothes. I’ve learnt to sew with my mum when I was a little girl and have always been interested in sewing and fashion and the construction of clothing. My instagram and facebook pages are a great way to see my latest makes and get inspiration for ways to use the fabrics I stock.

I’ve also started sewing and selling children’s custom made clothing on Etsy using the fabrics I stock online called Made by Me with Brave Fabrics, so sewing is a huge part of my business which I absolutely love.

What’s something people might not know about you?

After spending a year juggling  a part time job, two adorable ratbag toddlers and an online business I have finally left my part time job to focus on the other two. This means the pressure is on to succeed but also the passion is strong too!

Let’s just hope the love for my children and the passion for my business is enough to make this a happy and successful adventure.
